Traffic expected to increase as ANC supporters head to Mbombela

Reading Time: 2 minutes

TRAC N4 which manages the N4 highway says there are enough personnel and resources to deal with the influx of traffic ahead of the ANC’s January 8 Statement celebrations in Mpumalanga.

Massive numbers of ANC supporters from various parts of the country are expected to head to Mbombela for the event tomorrow.

This as the traffic volumes have already increased with the last batch of holidaymakers travelling back home for the reopening of schools next week.

“Thousands of people are expected to travel to Mbombela for this purpose and thus contributing more to the influx of traffic. TRAC is, however, ready to accommodate this traffic and all our toll plazas will be fully managed during the peak hours and roadside assistance teams as well as our help desk will be on full alert throughout the weekend.”

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the party’s January 8 Statement.

ANC General Manager Phoebe Potgieter says the address by the ANC President will outline the direction the party will take as it prepares for this year’s general elections.

“The President will not unveil the party’s manifesto but we will launch our manifesto in February. The January 8 Statement will certainly give a good sense of the direction and the priorities that the ANC will regard in its manifesto. The next phase is to take forward its mandate and the programme of transformation started in 1994.”
