Cross-examination in Bozwana murder case continues

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Cross-examination relating to the victim impact statement of one of the relatives of slain North West businessman Wandile Bozwana will resume in the Pretoria High Court this morning.

Yesterday, proceedings were postponed after counsel for two of the accused reported sick.

On Monday, Bozwana’s brother, Benedict’s evidence on his victim impact statement was also adjourned because the legal representatives for two of the accused were not ready to start with cross-examination.

Bozwana was killed in a hail of bullets at the Garsfontein offramp east of Pretoria in October 2015.

His colleague, Mpho Baloyi, escaped with multiple gunshot wounds.

A friend of the Bozwana family, Themba Gwabeni, is optimistic that justice will finally prevail despite the numerous delays.

“There’s been postponement after postponement but we’ve told ourselves that we’re not going to give in. They will be sentenced. After that we will go into phase two, we will find the principals because with these types of cases, it’s only the foot soldiers who get punished. Those who give orders are dining and chasing down their meals with wine and whiskey, smoking cigars somewhere in luxurious places. We have to smoke them out,” adds Gwabeni.
