Sanco promises to address its leadership squabbles

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The South African National Civics Organisation (Sanco) in the Free State says its leadership squabbles will soon be a thing of the past.

Members of the organisation have been embroiled in factional and court battles over leadership issues.

Sanco is holding an elective conference in Bloemfontein to discuss the unity of the structure.

An interim leadership was put in place in June.

Sanco provincial spokesperson Shima Mahlatsi says, “They went to the extent of taking each other to court because of fighting for positions and all that stuff. At the end of the day, our people lost their voice, they never had a representation.”

“The municipalities, government and the private sector were doing as they like because the voice of the people was dead. We are here at this conference to make sure that we unite Sanco, resuscitate Sanco [and] revive Sanco, so that our communities can start to have a proper voice,” adds Mahlatsi.
