Zuma acknowledge SA’s economic challenges

President Jacob Zuma has conceded that South Africa has been facing serious economic challenges in the year that is about to end.

Although the country emerged from a technical recession, credit rating agencies downgraded it to junk status.

Speaking in his New Year’s message, he explained government’s plans to ensure that the country’s economy go back on track.

“In the New Year, we will need to put extra efforts together to reignite the economy and promote growth and also to make it inclusive,” says Zuma.

“Through our industrial policy action plan, South Africa will continue to promote investments in key strategic sectors,” He says.

The President has also called on all South Africans to work together in order to ensure a prosperous and productive 2018.

He reiterated that South Africans should honour the legacy of late former President Nelson Mandela.

“The year 2018 marks the centenary of the late President Nelson Mandela. We should use the year to celebrate his contribution and promote unity and togetherness in our country,” Zuma

“Let’s work together to bring a truly united, none racial, and none sexist, democratised and prosperous South Africa,” says Zuma.
