Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, says the implementation of Universal Healthcare is to alleviate the financial burden on the poor.

This after member states of the United Nations signed a political declaration – reaffirming their commitment to providing Universal Healthcare by 2030. Some of the key aspects of the declaration include ensuring that quality healthcare is not only accessible – but also less expensive.

Mkhize was speaking on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, “In some of the instances, this is what impoverishes communities when someone has to choose whether they must buy food or take someone to hospital – and this is what we have to eliminate.”
