The Speaker of the Nelson Mandela Bay Council, Jonathan Lawack has confirmed that a special council will sit on Tuesday after it was postponed last Thursday.

This after chaos erupted during the sitting, when opposition parties raised several issues, including the chronological order of the day’s agenda.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) who filed a motion of no confidence against the executive mayor, Athol Trollip also requested a secret ballot vote.

Lawack says he cannot comment on his responses to the EFF and the agenda requests at this stage.

“I cannot divulge what my answer will be to the EFF at this stage, and I have not submitted written response to them. I’m hoping to complete that submission within the next day, and then I will send them to the EFF,” says Lawack.
