As President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver the State of the National Address on Thursday, hundreds of villagers in the Eastern Cape will be eagerly waiting to hear his plans on the construction of the Mzimvubu Water Project.
The Department of Water and Sanitation says although the current national average water level for dams across the country is below 75% there are no immediate plans to implement water restrictions.
The Water and Sanitation Department has decided to retain the current water restrictions placed on the Western Cape.
Department of Water and Sanitations spokesperson, Sputnik Ratau says the focus has been on the Western Cape because the situation there is dire and there has been some form of recovery in other provinces of the water resources.
Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille is on Wednesday expected to meet with school principals to discuss emergency plans in the event of Day Zero, now set for April the 16th, amid the crippling drought in province.
