Reading Time: 2 minutes

Sentencing proceedings in the case of the so-called Doom Pastor will continue on Friday with the State expected to call witnesses in aggravation of sentence.

The mother of self-proclaimed prophet Lethebo Rabalago who used Doom to spray his congregants says she has not been able to apologise to her son’s victims due to fear of being attacked.

Everista Rabalago has testified in mitigation of sentence during Lethebo Rabalago’s sentencing proceedings at the Mookgophong Magistrate’s court in Limpopo.

Rabalago has been convicted on five counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and three of contravening the Agricultural Remedies act.

The 57 year old mother who uses crutches walk says although she is remorseful about her son’s actions, she has been unable to approach any of the victims’ families as she had no information about their whereabouts.

Rabalago also says due to public and media interest in the case she has also been living in fear of being isolated and victimised.

She has also told the court that her son is the only person who assists her around the house, as she is unable to fully care for herself because of her disability.

The Defence has closed its case after calling three witnesses for mitigation.

The State is expected to present its case in aggravation of sentence.
