South African actor, Rapulana Seiphemo, popularly known as Tau Mogale in SABC-1 soapie Generations The Legacy is expected back in court on the 18 October.
Rapulana made a brief appearance in the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday on charges of tax evasion. He faces five counts of contravening the country’s tax laws.
Seiphemo allegedly failed to submit his tax returns between 2013 and 2017. “He failed to submit his personal income tax returns.
He currently owes the South African Revenue Service an amount exceeding R48 000, but over the years the penalties accumulated amounts to more than R111 000,” says the National Prosecuting Authority’s Phindi Mjonondwana.
