SACP anxiously waiting for Zuma’s removal

The South African Communist Party (SACP) says they’re waiting anxiously for the removal of President Jacob Zuma.

The African National Congress (ANC)’s National Executive Committee agreed last night in Irene, Pretoria, that Zuma must step down before election campaigns for 2019.

The future of President Zuma now lies in the hands of the top six officials.

SACP first Deputy General Secretary, Solly Mapaila says Zuma’s removal is long overdue.

“We really feel there could have been no better reason for the ANC to remove him from power they didn’t even have to wait for the national conference, but they’ve taken the long route which has been a very gruesome process that has created lots of damage and lots of divisions inside the movement.”

“They could have simply followed the basic policies and principles about the conduct of its cadres and removed President Zuma. So if they come to that particular conclusion, we most certainly welcome that decision, we still feel that he shouldn’t stay long as President of the country, he should have long resigned,” says Mapaila.
