Parliament’s Constitutional Review Committee will begin with its public hearings on Monday morning in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

This is part of the nationwide public hearings on the possible review of Section 25 of the Constitution to make it possible for the state to expropriate land in the public interest without compensation.

The public hearing will also be taking place in Ermelo and Middelburg in the next two days.

The committee concluded its Limpopo-Northern Cape leg of Public hearings in Kimberley and Thoyandou over the weekend.

Two groups of committee members are on a six week road show across the country to possibly review the constitution to expropriate land without compensation following a National Assembly resolution in February this year.

One group led by committee co-chairperson Lewis Nzimane will hold hearings in the Mangaung Metro at the Samson Sefuthi Community Hall in Botshabelo on Monday.

The other group of the committee members led by Co-chairperson Vincent Smith will conduct hearings at the AG Communio Hall at Mbombela in Mpumalanga.

The Mpumalanga-Free State leg of hearings are expected to continue until Wednesday in various parts of the two provinces.
