South Africa won the toss and sent the Sri Lankans in to bat first.
They were held to 99 for eight in 20 overs, with Shabnim Ishmail taking three, and the other wickets shared between Marizanne Kapp, Masabata Klaas, Tumi Sekhukhune, Dane van Niekerk and Moseline Daniels.
South Africa’s reply started off in shaky fashion, with the early loss of Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt reducing them to six for two. But the experienced Kapp and van Niekerk steadied things, and kept the scoreboard ticking.
Kapp went for 38, following a partnership of 67.
Van Niekerk ended unbeaten on 33, as they reached the target with nine balls to spare.
