Police launch manhunt for Cape Flats killers

Cape Town police has launched a manhunt for the people responsible for eight murders in the last 24 hours on the Cape Flats.

Six women were shot and killed in Philippi East.

Later two more people were shot and killed in nearby Hanover Park.

Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, says they cannot at this stage confirm whether the incidents are gang related and no one has been arrested as yet.

The motives for the murders remain unclear.

“The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident at Athry Walk, Hanover Park this morning at about 07:20 where the body of a 23-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. A second person a 18-year-old woman about ten meters away from him with a gunshot wound .”

“A double murder case was registered for investigation. The motive for the murders is unknown at this stage.”
