Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has conceded that farm killing are a cause for concern. He addressed the media in Pretoria on Friday, following a meeting with senior police officials and Community Safety MEC’s from the nine provinces.

Mbalula has given the assurance that the SAPS are working with farmers and Community Policing Forums to fight crime.

He also says that they are working on an integrated crime combating strategy

“I’m not about to turn this into a political debate and discussion, the reality of the matter is that there is crime in the farms and farmers are being murdered because farmers are all over, people steal and they murder the farmers,” Mbalula says.

He says that his task as the minister of police is to ensure that there is safety for farmers because farmers are an important relation to the economy so they must be protected.
