Manuel slams Magashule at Mam Winnie’s memorial service

Former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel has slammed ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule for the failure to remodel struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s old home in Brandfort, Free State, into a museum.

Madikizela-Mandela was banished from the house during the apartheid era. She passed away on Monday at the age of 81.

Magashule has maintained his innocence, saying he has been communicating with Mama Winnie’s family since 2007 and the funds for the project are still in place.

Manuel was speaking at Madikizela-Mandela’s memorial service at St. George’s Cathedral in Cape Town.

 

“Now we are told by the former Premier of the Free State Mr. Elias Sekgobelo Magashule that he has been working with the family since 2007. This is the same premier who processed the approvals for the Estina dairy totaling some R220 million in two weeks. And even when he talks about it he says well everybody knows the money hasn’t disappeared. Where is the money that it was budgeted for? …”
