A police sergeant has been shot dead, allegedly by her police officer husband at their home in Tzaneen in Limpopo.
Yvonne Moyana, a communication officer in the Tzaneen cluster, was allegedly killed in the presence of their children.
Police spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo, says the suspect, a warrant officer in the provincial crime intelligence unit, then committed suicide.
“The police in Tzaneen have opened a murder and inquest after a 43 year old police sergeant was allegedly shot dead by her husband who later turned the gun on himself. The motive for the incident is not know at this stage. Police investigations are continuing.”
