As South Africans go to the polls on Wednesday, Political Analyst Mike Siluma says the IEC is under a lot of pressure. He says they need to be seen as having delivered an election that is free, fair and credible.
Speaking on Morning Live he says there’s a high number of registered voters and a high number of polling stations.
You CAN vote at any voting station in SA in #SAElections2019 (if you are registered & at least 18) on #8May, 7am-9pm. If you vote in province in which you’re registered, you will get national & prov ballots. If you vote outside of your province, just the national ballot. pic.twitter.com/7wkbxSDBZb

“They really carry a huge burden over the next couple of days of making sure that all the hiccups are taken care of and the election is seen as being a true reflection of South African voters.”
He also touched on the high number of parties contesting the elections.
He says this tells us about the openness of the system when 48 parties want to go to parliament.
