Eastern Cape police have confirmed that a 35 year-old woman has been killed, allegedly by angry residents of Makewini near Mzamba in Mbizana.
Police spokesperson, Edith Mjoko says the woman was apprehended collecting earth from the grave of Aphiwe Dazela, who died last week aged 21.
The victim was allegedly stoned and hacked to death after confessing that someone had sent her to collect the earth from Aphiwe’s grave for satanic activities.
Last week another woman was stoned to death after confessing to sucking Aphiwe’s blood in his sleep. His mother, Sibongile Dazela says she is devastated about the mysterious death of her son.
“I am very hurting for losing my son in this manner, I also saddened that a person who confessed that she has sucked blood from my son was not arrested. And no a young woman came here and collected earth from my son’s grave. She even told us that the reason for collecting the earth, she want five members of the family to die a mysterious death. I am not happy about the behaviour of the police for not acting against the women who came here and wronged us , it is not good for the police to arrest people in the family and not the perpetrators.”
Speaking on behalf of the family, Ntombikhona Dazela says they are not happy about the police conduct.
“There was a young girl who came here and confessed that she had sucked the blood from Aphiwe. Now another young woman came here and collected earth from the grave; and she said the reason is to kill more people in the Dazela family. The police failed to protect the woman because she was killed right in front of the police.”
Villagers had this to say.
“This is very disappointing and we are not happy as the community, 3 we are not happy about the service of the police regarding this matter. We want to know why the first woman was not arrested after confessing that she killed Aphiwe , we are really shocked and saddened about this.”
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Edith Mjoko has confirmed that a young woman was killed and three people taken for questioning.
“It is alleged that the community saw the woman in the grave yard and questioned her when she said she has come to fetch the soil and she has been sent by her mother to the grave yard of the man who was buried. Three people were taken to the police station for questioning hoping that arrest will be made emanating from the questioning that will be done at the police station.”
The situation is still tense at the village as people live in fear of being attacked by what they believe is a demonic possessed young woman in their area.
