Ebola spreading fast in the DRC

Eight months after Ebola reappeared in Democratic Republic of Congo, the disease is spreading faster than ever. The number of new cases a week has tripled over the past month to 73.

Ethnic conflict is hampering the response.

Almost 700 people have died and thousands have been infected, making this the second biggest ever Ebola outbreak.

Three weeks ago, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said they believed it had been largely contained, but the record rise over the past fortnight and has raised concerns.

WHO regional director, Matshidiso Moeti has raised concerns about the continued conflict on the Ebola ravaged areas in the DRC.
