DA has ran out of ideas ‘reaching serious proportions of desperation’: ANC

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The African National Congress (ANC) has reacted to the Democratic Alliance (DA) billboard saying it’s regrettable and DA has run out of ideas reaching serious proportions of desperation.

Maimane says his party will go all out and provide necessary support to all those who were left devastated following the tragic events.

Political parties have reacted with “shock” at a DA billboard which has the names of those who perished during the Marikana and Life Esidimeni tragedies.

On Wednesday, DA leader Mmusi Maimane unveiled the billboard titled “the ANC is killing us” in honour of the victims. He says his party will go all out and provide necessary support to all those who were left devastated following the tragic events.

The ANC spokesperson in the Presidency Zizi Kodwa says they will not entertain those who are seeking to derail the party in its mission to change the people’s life.

Also reacting is the ACDP and the UDM.

ACDP leader Reverend Kenneth Meshoe says what the DA has done is “distasteful”. And the UDM’s Bantu Holomisa says it’s shocking that political parties are willing to do such a thing in the name of political gains.

The DA has confirmed it has not consulted the affected families before erecting the billboard.

The ANC Acting Spokesperson Dakota Legoete says it is very sad for our democracy.

“I think the DA is missing the point in that it is using a tragedy to gather votes and support for the fourth coming national elections.”

“It is wrong for the DA to list names of the victims on a billboard for elections support. In our way of life, as South Africans – Ubuntu – it is wrong to use somebody’s death or to profit from somebody’s death. In our culture and how we socialise that is immoral,” says Legoete.
