Billions set for Cape Town housing project

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The City of Cape Town has set aside just over R2 billion for housing opportunities over the next three years.

Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Development, Brett Herron, says R481 million will be used on new roads to relieve congestion.

He says the City’s Urban Development Authority also plans to improve infrastructure for the roll-out of the MyCiTi Bus Service to Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha.

Housing projects are earmarked for areas like Nyanga, Heideveld, Fisantekraal and Grassy Park.

Herron says the bulk of the housing projects will be developed close to public transport and public amenities.
