The City of Cape Town Council has approved seven new housing developments in the city.

The R72-million projects will be situated in the Strand, Blue Downs, Khayelitsha and Elsies River.

Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Brett Herron says nearly 16 000 houses will be constructed.

“Following council’s approval, the City’s Transport and Urban Development Authority will now conclude the seven contracts for the appointment of multi-disciplinary teams tasked with overseeing the successful implementation of the housing developments.”

“The housing opportunities will become available within the next two to three years, depending on the type of development and the area where the development is taking place,” says Herron.
