Barker hoping end the year on a high

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Stellenbosch FC are back in Absa Premiership action on Wednesday when they travel to Loftus to take on Mamelodi Sundowns, after the encounter was added back to the fixture schedule.

The match, originally scheduled as a home game for Stellenbosch, was postponed due to Sundowns’ involvement in the CAF Champions League this past weekend, and the upcoming Telkom Knockout final, but Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker says he is happy to have the match back on the schedule, even if it is the away leg.

Stellenbosch drew 1-1 away against SuperSport United in their last match and Barker says it was a good result and he hopes to replicate that again on Wednesday.

The former Tuks and AmaZulu FC coach says his team has a clean bill of health and has been happy to welcome back Ashley Du Preez to training after a long term injury.

Stellenbosch end the year with another away game against Baroka after this game, and Barker is looking to end the year on a high. – Report by Rob Delport
