A Cape Town Pastor, who was found guilty of being in contempt of court for continuing to post homophobic remarks on social media, is adamant that he has been preaching the word of God.

Pastor Oscar Bougardt was found guilty in the Equality Court in Cape Town on Friday.

Pastor Bougardt has been given a 30-day sentence suspended for five years for being in contempt of court for his anti-gay remarks.

The South African Human Rights Commission hauled him before court in 2014 for making anti-gay comments. The court ordered that he stop but he continued.

“I am preaching the word of the God. The word of God can never be in contempt of court I am preaching the word of God and if the Bible says it is a sin then it is a sin there’s nothing that i can do about it. Maybe I should have said some words differently but I am not sorry for preaching the word of God . I am a man of the cloth I am man of God I preach to hundreds of people every week and I say what is in the word of God. If people don’t like it there’s nothing that I can do,” said Pastor  Bougardt before his judgment.
