African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says the party needs stalwarts like Winnie Madikizela Mandela to find its way back to the masses.

The ANC’s leadership says reconnecting with stalwarts will help them draw inspiration  as they embark on the journey to “renew” the ruling party.

On Monday night, Ramaphosa accompanied and the top six officials paid a courtesy visit to struggle icon home in Soweto.

The visit is part of a programme by the officials to honour living and past stalwarts of the organisation.

Ramaphosa says they can learn a lot from the elders of the party.

Meanwhile, Madikizela-Mandela says the ANC Women’s League did not work hard enough to convince party members to vote in more women into the top leadership.

She says while she is confident about the ANC’s new leadership, the Women’s League has a lot of work to do over the next five years leading to the next Elective Conference.
