Ajay Gupta, the country’s most wanted fugitive from justice, is reportedly in India.
It’s believed that he and his brother, Atul, attended a wedding in the state of Uttar Pradesh and then headed to a bungalow in northern India.
Ajay is wanted by the Hawks in connection with corruption charges.
The National Prosecuting Authority has meanwhile confirmed that Atul Gupta is challenging the freezing of the R10 million allegedly paid into his account in connection with the Estina dairy farm project in Vrede in the Free State.
Some media reports in India suggest that they were in the country last week.
The reports are suggesting that Atul and Ajay Gupta both landed in India and then went to their home town of Saharanpur, which is in the state of Uttar Pradesh, that is where they hail from.
Many of their cousins and relatives have spoken to sections of local media to say that “we saw them”.
From there they reportedly went to another city where they have many property holdings and that is where Ajay was reportedly stationed.
He left the place last Friday and since then there was no confirmation of his exact location.
