Vehicles, train coach, railway office torched in uMlazi

Four vehicles, a train coach, and a railway office have been set alight at the uMlazi train station, south of Durban, during a protest.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says more than 800 protesters‘ wreaked havoc at the train station on Friday morning, causing extensive damage to property.

“They allegedly damaged the office as well as set alight four vehicles that were in the vicinity, and they also damaged the motor trail couch causing extensive damages. We’re going to open a case of public violence for further investigations – and vow that those who caused this damage will be arrested and charged accordingly. Our police officers are still in the area, they are monitoring the situation,” says Zwane.
