Two people, arrested for allegedly operating an illegal medical practice and potentially posing a health risk to the community, are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court today.
The pair was arrested in Hillbrow on Friday, following information received by the Joburg Metro Police Department about a bogus doctor operating on Twist Street in Hillbrow.
Joburg Metro Police spokesperson, Xolani Fihla, stated that the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) will be contacted to verify the authenticity of the alleged bogus doctors’ medical practice.
“Officers found various medical equipment and medications such as testing kits, ARVs, syringes, and blood-stained buckets,” he added.
“The duo was arrested and detained at the Hillbrow SAPS, where a case docket was opened for further investigation”.
