Reading Time: < 1 minute

The N1 near Worcester in the Western Cape has been reopened to traffic following a pileup that claimed the lives of three people.

The national road was closed for several hours Tuesday morning.

Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa says both lanes are now open

The three people who were killed included a 10-year-old boy.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring says six other patients were assessed and found to have minor to moderate injuries.

He says paramedics treated the patients and provided some with pain relief medication.

“Once all the patients had been treated they were transported to hospitals for medical care,” says Meiring.

The exact details surrounding the incident are not yet known but local authorities are on scene for further investigation.
