Banyana star Thembi Kgatlana is the best women’s soccer player in Africa. She was named African Women’s Player of the Year at the CAF Awards in Dakar Senegal Tuesday night. A year before she had lost the award to Nigerian Asisat Oshoala.

She also won Goal of the Year for her stunning strike in their win over Nigeria in the opening match of the African Women’s Championship. Banyana coach Desiree Ellis was named Women’s Coach of the Year, but Banyana lost out to Nigeria in the Team of the Year category.

The top men’s award went to Egypt and Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah, while Morocco mentor Herve Renard was Coach of the Year.
