Tempers have flared up in the Constitutional Review Committee between Congress of the People (COPE), the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the African National Congress (ANC), as members are deliberating on a preliminary report on the written submissions made to amend Section 25 of the Constitution to allow for land expropriation without compensation.

One of the reports was compiled by an outside private service provider which concluded that most of the written submissions are not in favour of reviewing Section 25.

The report made findings and conclusions on how many people are for or against amending Section 25.

Emotions ran high when COPE MP Diedre Carter and the African Christian Democratic Party’s (ACDP) Steve Swart raised the question on ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa‘s recent pronouncement on expropriation without compensation.
