The Theatre and Dance Alliance (TADA) has drafted and introduced a manual for the safe and responsible opening of South Africa’s theatres and performance venues.
TADA launched its ‘Open Theatres Safely Campaign’ online to lobby the government and relevant structures to assist in raising the curtains again for the first time since March last year.
The alliance says the current capacity limits are killing playhouses and the artists and co-workers who depend on these venues to make a living.
Many theatres have over the last few months closed their doors permanently while the remaining playhouses have to adhere to strict lockdown regulations.
