South Africa thumps Malawi to win gold in the Africa Netball World Cup qualifiers

South Africa outplayed Malawi 60-44 to win gold in the final of the Africa Netball World Cup qualifiers in Pretoria.
South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Uganda all qualified for the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town.

The Proteas deposed Malawi as the best team in Africa with a complete performance at the University of Pretoria.
The teams were deadlocked at 13 all after the first quarter, however the Proteas started to pull away at halftime 29-22.

By Q3 the Proteas had stretched their lead to 14 goals, and all but put the final to bed, they led 45-31.
Phumza Maweni put in a player of the match performance as South Africa beat Malawi 60-44 to win gold, with Malawi settling for silver.
Zimbabwe took the bronze medal, and that means the four qualify spots are finalised ahead of next year’s world cup.
