South Africa’s COVID-19 cases have increased to 1 490 063, after the Health Department reported 2 382 news infections.
The death toll has climbed to 47 821 following the death of 151 South Africans due to the virus.
The department says the Eastern Cape has lost three lives, the Free State 15, Gauteng 29, KwaZulu- Natal 39, Mpumalanga 12, Northern Cape one and Western Cape 52.
The cumulative total of tests conducted to date is 8 672 596 with 31 149 new tests recorded since the last report.
The recoveries now stand at 1 385 996, representing a recovery rate of 93%.

The Health Department has conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the healthcare workers who treated the deceased patients.
