Sharks make one change for final home game

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Sharks have made just one change to their starting line-up to face the Hurricanes in their final home game of the Super Rugby regular season on Saturday.

Jacques Vermeulen replaces the injured Philip van der Walt at flank.

Meanwhile on the bench, 26-year-old hooker Cullen Collopy is in line to make his Super Rugby debut. He has featured and done well for the Sharks in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge this year.

Coach Rob Du Preez says it is a big opportunity for him.

The Canes have been one of the standout teams in the competition, losing just three times this season.

They will arrive at Kings Park eager to bounce back after they were beaten by the Jaguares at home in their last outing. Du Preez says it will take a big defensive effort to stop the Kiwi outfit who have scored 48 tries to date.

The game also presents a big opportunity for Sharks flyhalf, Curwin Bosch to impress against the incumbent All Blacks pivot, Beauden Barret.

Du Preez has praised Bosch’s work rate this season and says the entire Sharks backline will need to deal with pressure from the Canes.

Meanwhile, Sharks captain Louis Schreuder says they have seen enough of the Canes to prepare adequately for the clash. His side are braced for a big aerial assault. – Report by Thahir Asmal
