The South African Weather Service says there’s an 80% chance of showers and thundershowers in parts of KwaZulu-Natal today. The province is still dealing with the damage from the recent floods that claimed the lives of more than 390 people.

Meanwhile, some businesses in uMdloti on the north coast of Durban have opted to close. This after storms and mudslides ravaged the area.

Some holiday homes and roads are closed. During the Easter weekend uMdloti is usually abuzz with tourists however this time only a handful of people are visiting the area.

Forecaster Puseletso Mofokeng says there’s potential flooding in municipalities including Umgungundlovu and eThekwini.

“So these are the areas where we have a high chance of potential flooding and other parts of the province. As we move to tomorrow, we are expecting normal flooding. Even here in Gauteng there is still a chance for flooding.”
