Reports of Asthma and breathing issues prompted FF+ complaint on Medupi

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) has outlined its reasons for lodging a complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) over the poor quality of air around the Medupi power station in Limpopo.

The FF Plus says they have received numerous complaints from residents of the Lephalale Local Municipality about air pollution.

The FF Plus provincial leader Marcelle Maritz says, “Some people say they have issues with asthma and breathing. It also affects your lungs and liver. I went straight to the SAHRC. There are rights for everybody to live in a clean environment. So, the SAHRC noted that and acknowledged our letter. They are going to investigate.”
