The chairperson of the Interfaith Forum of South Africa, Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana, says that the forum made up of a community of religious leaders has been concerned about the state of affairs in the country for a while. He was speaking ahead of a three-day conference which kicks off on Monday.
The forum will attempt to come up with bold new plans to save South Africa.
Mpumlwana says the conference will focus on finding solutions to crises including rolling blackouts, water shortages and the high unemployment rate among other things.
He says, “Corruption and graft is almost a way of life across the nations. You look at the extremities of violence in our society, you look at the hopelessness and the decline of hope, particularly with young people, what do you really expect they would do with their time? ”
“When we see what happened in July 2021, we recognise that whoever was behind what happened there must have known that there is a ready market, ready to loot at a drop of a hat.”
