Ramokgopa paints a bleak picture of SA’s electricity supply

Electricity Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has painted a bleak picture of the country’s electricity supply ahead of this winter season.

Ramokgopa has drafted an action plan that aims to reduce rolling blackouts.

The Minister has already presented his plan to the Cabinet and the ruling African National Congress (ANC) National Working Committee (NWC).

He says among others, the plan outlines immediate steps that the country can take to avert higher stages of rolling blackouts this winter and beyond.

Ramakgopa says, “The outlook looks really bleak because demand is going to increase exponentially. The grid continues to be unreliable and that’s the question that requires our attention. But we have factored all of those in the proposal that we are making. So that we ensure that this winter it doesn’t become as worse as it appears to be, now before the interventions of what we will be proposing.”
