African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa has accompanied KwaZulu-Natal ANC provincial chairperson Sihle Zikalala on his party campaign to KwaMashu Township, north of Durban.

Ramaphosa embarked on a door to door campaign listening to challenges facing the people in the township including service delivery.

Scores of ANC supporters have packed a local sports ground where Ramaphosa is due to address a public meeting. He will later on Saturday take his campaign to uMlazi Township west of Durban.

Meanwhile, ANC Deputy President David Mabuza says despite allegations of corruption and factionalism, he’s confident that the governing party will be voted back into power with a decisive majority after the May 8 polls.

He was speaking to SABC News during a door-to-door campaign in Rethabiseng Township in Bronchorspruit east of Tshwane on Friday. Most residents of the township complained about a lack of jobs and basic services such as water and sanitation. After interacting with residents, Mabuza said South Africans were prepared to give the ANC another chance.
