The Weather Service says heavy rains in KwaZulu-Natal are not out of the ordinary in the summer months.
Rains and flash floods are expected to continue on Thursday morning in the province.
Disaster management teams will remain on high alert throughout the night.
Forecaster Mbavhi Maliage says: “We are expecting watch for heavy rains along the coastal regions to continue from Wednesday to Thursday.”
“For now most of the rainfall has subsided. These kinds of conditions are not out of the ordinary, even in previous years we have had systems like this.”
