Gauteng Premier David Makhura will on Friday morning lead a vaccination drive in the Sebokeng District Municipality. This is aimed at making COVID-19 vaccines more accessible to the public through mobile pop-up vaccination sites and drive-throughs.

Makhura will be joined by Health MEC Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi, Community Safety MEC Faith Mazibuko and Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC Mbali Hlophe.

The campaign is part of the government’s effort to build confidence in the vaccine amid indications that more people are resisting being vaccinated.

More than 15.4 million people in South Africa have received at least one dose of the vaccine out of which more than half have been fully vaccinated.

This week Gauteng will hit new milestones of 4 million vaccine doses administered, 3 million people vaccinated with one dose and 2 million fully vaccinated. We’re averaging 400k doses in a week, chasing 500k. Vaccine coverage is at 25% of adults. Don’t vacillate, let’s vaccinate!
