Plato condemns killing of police officer

Western Cape Community Safety Minister, Dan Plato has condemned the killing of a police officer in Khayelitsha on The Cape Flats.

Two police officers were allegedly ambushed by six suspects in Site C on Tuesday.

Thirty-nine year old Constable Ncedo Katoyi died on the scene.

Plato’s department is offering a R100 000 reward for information that will assist the police in their investigation.

He says his department together with the police want to send a strong message to all perpetrators that the killing of the police will not be tolerated.

“My condolences to the family. I want to urge our police to continue with their hard work. The Western Cape government and my office stand by them in these difficult times,” says Plato.
