The appointment of the new premier for the North West province is expected to be formally announced on Monday in Mahikeng. They will be replacing Premier Job Mokgoro.

The announcement will be made by the ANC Interim Provincial Committee (IPC). The latest developments follow apparent disagreements between the IPC and Mokgoro.

The IPC has submitted three names for preferred candidates to the party’s national leadership for consideration by the IPC.

The submitted names were those of current legislature speaker Suzan Dantjie, Finance MEC Motlalepule Rosho and IPC member Bushy Maape.

North West ANC to clarify decision to suspend Premier Job Mokgoro’s membership:

In an exclusive interview with ANC Treasurer General Paul Mashatile in Rustenburg says, “We have already interviewed the candidates as the officials of the ANC. This is a new system that we have introduced. We have made the decision, and we reported back to the province to allow them to make the announcement.”

Reliable sources informed SABC News that 64-year-old struggle veteran and former Robben Island prisoner, Bushy Maape will be replacing Mokgoro.

Mokgoro is expected to tender his resignation on Sunday.
