Well-known media personality, Robert Marawa, has appealed to people to take the coronavirus pandemic seriously after he was hospitalised with COVID-19.

Marawa has issued a statement appealing to people to follow the coronavirus protocols including wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and regular hand washing.

People should also avoid poorly ventilated areas as well as large crowds.

Marawa says he had to be hospitalised with pneumonia after testing positive for the virus.

He says he was able to recover because he was diagnosed early and has thanked hospital staff for putting him on the road to full recovery.

Marawa says COVID-19 is a vicious disease that should not be taken lightly.
