Supra Mahumapelo is on leave, following calls for him to step down as North West premier.

Political analysts and observers, say embattled North West premier Supra Mahumapelo’s plan to mobilise members against those wanting to remove him from power, is just a strategy to garner sympathy.

Mahumapelo, who is on leave, addressed his supporters this week in Mahikeng. This was after he reneged on his pledge to resign as premier.

Political analyst Dr Oshupeng Maseng says Mahumapelo still wants to hang on to power.

“I think it is just a strategy for him to start mobilising at grounds level and other sectors of society to actually stand behind him during this trying time on his part. He is trying by all means to hang on to power he is trying by all means to mobilise society so that he chastised by the African national Congress (ANC),” says Maseng.
