Bob Mabena’s wife, Eucharist Hadebe-Mabena, has given her late husband an emotional farewell during the funeral service held at a chapel in Pretoria West.
She thanked him for the time they spent together, calling him her “best friend” and “superman.”
Mabena died on Monday and will be privately cremated on Saturday.

She described the day her husband passed on as a vivid nightmare and it continues to haunt her.
Eucharist said Mabena taught her to love unconditionally. She also thanked God for the time she was allowed to be Mabena’s wife.
“My husband was a giver Bob; gave the gift of time to everyone he came across. He was a great teacher, very patient. He left so many lessons engraved with our kids, his friends and colleagues. He was consistent. The person he was to the world, he was the same person; even better at home.”

Mabena’s friend and radio personality, George Manyosi, described himas a force to be reckoned with. He told mourners that he first met Mabena at the then Radio Bop where Mabena’s broadcasting career was launched.
He says Mabena will be remembered for his kindness and charisma.
“So I don’t know how to put it with Mabena. He had the character, he had the gift to open doors but he had a favour that is super natural that was on him. And that is how he succeeded and then accelerated and became who we celebrate today.”
At his memorial service on Thursday, Mabena was described as a selfless man who was larger than life, who gave others a big break in the showbiz industry.
Rasta, the artist famous for his controversial portraits of celebrities, was outside the home painting a portrait of Mabena.
“For me, it’s an honour for me. I’m getting relief over Bob Mabena. I know him from late 90s when he released his song, get funky, for me also it was a hit of which I was related to as a youngster. I am going to give the painting to the family; when they look at the painting they will know South Africa and the world they loved him,” said Rasta.
