Minister Zulu together with the MEC’s, CEOs of Sassa and NDA, Totsie Memela and Thamo Mzobe, will give updates on the implementation of the Special COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant.

Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu joined by Provincial MECs of Social Development, will on Friday, 11 December 2020, brief members of the media on the department’s social relief measures to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

During the briefing, Minister Zulu together with the MEC’s, CEOs of Sassa and NDA, Totsie Memela and Thamo Mzobe, will give updates on the implementation of the Special COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant, status on the transfer of payments to Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) and food relief.

She will also give an update on the Early Childhood Development programme, prevention and control measures at the department’s facilities – including residential care facilities for older persons, amongst others.
