Reading Time: < 1 minute

The strike at Lanxess Chrome Mine in Rustenburg has been called off.  Workers had staged an underground sit-in for nine days at the mine.

Over 200 mine workers have been refusing to come to the surface, until action is taken against alleged sexual harassment and victimisation.

Several miners were admitted to hospital during the strike, after refusing to eat.

Meanwhile trade unions, Numsa and Saftu are locked in a meeting with mine workers delegation at the Lanxess mine in Rusternburg, North West.

They are discussing the list of demands they will be presenting before the mine Management.

Numsa national spokesperson, Phakamile Hlubi-Majola elaborates on the striking workers’ demands.
