Ravensmead police in Cape Town have arrested a 17-year-old male following information of armed teenagers robbing community members in the vicinity of “Uitsig.”

Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, says they pursued the reports, spotted the teen, and caught him at a premises in Vinca Street when he fled. He says the suspect had a prohibited pistol and ammunition on him.

Swartbooi says two other suspects have, meanwhile, been apprehended in an unrelated incident when they were seen damaging essential infrastructure at Paarl on the N-1 outside Cape Town.

“Police members attached to the Cape Winelands Economic Infrastructure Task Team responded to information about suspects damaging infrastructure. The members proceeded to Fairyland in Paarl, where they found two males in possession of essential infrastructure with an estimated street value of R50 000. They detained the two males, aged 36 and 38, on a charge of possession of presumed stolen property,” says Swartbooi.
